“And all along I believed, I would find you. Time has brought your heart to me, I have loved you for a thousand years. I’ll love you for a thousand more…….”~Christina Perri
I’ve been hanging onto these anxiously waiting to share them! I am the least patient person I know so hanging onto sessions I love is so hard for me.
On a cloudy morning in May I met with Bailee and Stoney, her horse. We traipsed around mud and puddles and somehow managed to keep her dress relatively clean! This session has a number of elements that made me feel like I was hanging out with a friend in Texas… Horses and barns and boots….everything that really let Bailee’s personality and style shine! All those elements made me feel at ease as well. Thank you Bailee for being yourself and trusting me to capture your spirit.
Also, I learned horses really love bouquets HAHHAHA.
“‘Cause all of me loves all of you. Love your curves and all your edges all your perfect imperfections. Give your all to me, I’ll give my all to you. You’re my end and my beginning. Even when I lose I’m winning. ‘Cause I give you all of me And you give me all of you…..”~John Legend
Y’all I am DYING over here at how amazing this session turned out….no that’s not even the right word…I don’t know if there is one.
Ben & Emily were game for anything when it came to their engagements pictures. When I heard that they had purchased an amazing historic home I just knew that we needed to capture them and their infectious love in this space that holds their future. I absolutely can not wait for their fall wedding.
We also had some fun getting some shots that you can only get in the Delta!
Congratulations Emily + Ben!!!!!!
“Wise men say only fools rush in, but I can’t help falling in love with you. Shall I stay? Would it be a sin if I can’t help falling in love with you…….”~Elvis Presley
Stephanie & Matthew were married on Saturday on the waterfront at Lake Chicot. Having rained all last week we were lucky that the sun came out and it was a beautiful day for a wedding. They had a very simple, small ceremony and it was simply perfect for these two. I met them back in December for their engagements in which the best shots happened in their sweatshirts and jeans. A very laid back couple who made my job easy. I am so happy for having gotten to know them and I wish them both the very best. Congratulations Stephanie & Matthew! I wish you both a lifetime of happiness!!!
Introducing Mr. & Mrs. Minchew!!!!
“Sometimes we laugh, and sometimes we cry. Some days its hard to figure out our way in this life. But its moments like these that make me wish I could freeze frame time…..”~Brandon Rhyder
Spring mini sessions have always been my favorite family sessions of the year. I usually get to let my personality shine with an elaborate set up. For my second (and last spring date of mini sessions this year there was a real threat of rain. My plans were a bit messed up. I rolled with it and refused to reschedule a full morning of work into an already overwhelmed calendar. I’m so happy that I did because they turned out great! I recently repainted my home and felt like it could be the perfect place for pictures and I was right. Thank you to all of my patient clients for trusting me and going with the flow!!
“My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to, Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small, You never need to carry more than you can hold, And while you’re out there getting where you’re getting to, I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too, Yeah, this, is my wish…….”~Rascal Flatts
Spring mini sessions are one of my favorite times of the year! I always do two dates and April’s sessions did not disappoint. In the past I’ve gone for bold and colorful but this year I went a different direction and incorporated natural elements which have become more my style lately. I can’t wait for next weekend for the second day of sessions! Thank you to all the families who continue to trust me to capture your stories.
“At last the skies above are blue. My heart was wrapped up in clover the night I looked at you. I found a dream, that I could speak to. A dream that I can call my own. I found a thrill to press my cheek to. A thrill that I have never known…..”~Etta James
You can learn a lot about people just based on who they surround themselves with. In this sense, I learned a lot about this bride and groom at their wedding. I’ve attended and covered more weddings than I can count over the years and I can honestly say with the exception of my own wedding and a few close friends’ I have never felt so at home and at ease as I did with Meredith and Richard’s friends. They were kind, they were friendly, and they were a blast to hang out with. I know for a fact that the Mississippi Delta is full of people like this and many of them have attended multiple weddings I’ve covered, but I think size of this wedding allowed me to interact with people more than I normally get to. I truly enjoyed myself on Saturday and I’m so thankful for the opportunities I get with my job to meet awesome people.
Meredith and Richard’s wedding was held at a family member’s home. When I told people I was having a wedding at the “Turner Mansion in Belzoni” everyone knew what I was referring to except for me. They all ooo’ed and ahhh’ed when I told them but I had no clue until I got there that day and it lived up to every expectation I had. This house was absolutely stunning with it’s large yard and front porch with dreamy light. This wedding was a southern dream.
The details that went into the day were so beautiful.
First looks with the dad are really one of my favorite wedding moments.
Richard and Meredith chose to see each other before the wedding and it was the perfect first look.
Their wedding party were laid back and patient with me but boy were they happy when their pictures were done.
The ceremony took place in the front yard of the home.
The reception took place in the backyard. The trees around this property were stunning.
The garter got stuck in a tree on the first go round. I think most of the men would have left it there had the groom not knocked it back down for another shot.
The night got a lot more fun when the karaoke started and even the bride and groom got in on it.
MR & MRS TURNER!!!!!

“You ask me what I like about Texas, I tell you it’s the wide open spaces! It’s everything between the Sabine and the Rio Grande. It’s the Llano Estacado, it’s the Brazos and the Colorado; Spirit of the people down here who share this land! It’s another burrito, it’s a cold Lone Star in my hand, it’s a quarter for the jukebox, boys. Play the sons of the mothers of the bunkhouse band!” ~Gary P. Nunn
For those of you don’t know me, I grew up in Texas. If you know any Texans, you know that we are all obnoxious about how amazing our state is. Sure, I love the Mississippi Delta and this is my home now but you know what they say…. You can take the girl out of Texas but you can’t take the Texas out of the girl. A few weeks ago I got to travel to my home state to visit friends and family. We stayed with one of my closest friends and my daughter’s godmother. While we were there we had an afternoon to just drive around a ranch and enjoy the outdoors. I took it as an opportunity to do a long overdue photoshoot with my daughter. Maggie Mae got to meet her first horse, we watched the cows, we ate dewberries straight off the vine, we picked wildflowers, and we explored an abandoned barn. It was perfect in every way.
“I am unwritten, can’t read my mind, I’m undefined, I’m just beginning. The pen’s in my hand, ending unplanned. Staring at the blank page before you, open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find. Reaching for something in the distance, so close you can almost taste it. Release your inhibitions, feel the rain on your skin. No one else can feel it for you only you can let it in….”~Natasha Bedingfield
If you have been a client of mine for the past six months, this young lady may look familiar. Asia is my right hand woman, she’s the oil that keeps my business machine working. I can’t even begin to describe how her working for me has helped lift a huge weight off my shoulders. She’s graduating and leaving me this summer and I’m so sad about it but happy for her future. She’s a smart, amazing woman and I can’t wait to see where life takes her!
“I hope you never lose your sense of wonder. You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger. May you never take one single breath for granted. God forbid love ever leave you empty handed. I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean. Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens. Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance and when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance“~Lee Ann Womack
This past fall I was honored to be asked by the Mitchell family to take some candid photos of their son to capture him and his personality. I had such a good time just letting their toddler be himself and play around in a pecan orchard. So when they asked me to do the same thing for their daughter I was super excited! This session has everything I love about photography and children: real smiles, real laughs, dancing and being themselves. Who needs boring posed photos when you can have ones that capture the spirit of your child’s personality!
“You know I hope and I pray that you believe me when I say this love will never fade away. Oh, because you are the best thing, you are the best thing, you are the best thing to ever happened to me…..” ~Ray LaMontagne
I’m so honored to be able to capture such a special milestone in the lives of these two people. Margaret’s family is truly like my own delta family and I can’t wait to shower her baby with the same kindness her family has shown my own daughter. Welcome to the world little Lidewij de Koning!
